We see pinDeliver as a strategic partner to our operations. It’s not just an off-the-shelf system - it works within our production and supports us in our daily work. We haven’t found any other supplier that has been this solution-oriented. The greatest joy is that we’ve finally found something that truly fits what we do and is genuinely fit for purpose.

Background and Challenge

Widén Åkeri has extensive experience with high-complexity deliveries – various types of goods, many customers, and differing delivery patterns. But much of the day-to-day planning was still done manually.

The dispatch team built routes by hand, often using Google Maps and manual calculations. This meant high workload, a risk of errors, and a lot of time spent on repetitive tasks.

”We reinvented the wheel every day. We sat down and manually built routes, spent tons of time trying to find the right sequence. It was a huge amount of work,”, says Pierre Widén, Co-owner and Business Developer at Widéns Åkeri.

Solution with pinDeliver

To streamline transport planning and reduce the reliance on manual processes, Widén’s decided to implement pinDeliver. Today, the system is used for route optimization, delivery tracking, and supporting drivers in their daily work.

”We can input a ton of orders into pinDeliver and quickly get a suggestion for the number of vehicles and the delivery sequence. If I then want to put stop number eight before stop one – because I know it works better today – I just drag and drop it. The system then re-optimizes and gives me updated distances and times. Brilliant!“, continues Pierre Widén.

The visual interface and ease of use have been crucial – especially for those working closest to the operations.

”Many other systems are built for the office, but pinDeliver feels like it’s built from the production side – and that’s where we work,” says Nils Gladysz.

The impact is also evident in how the company can pursue new business opportunities. By using pinDeliver as a tool in the quoting process, Widén’s has been able to present well-developed delivery proposals in a short amount of time.

”I can import all delivery days directly into pinDeliver, set time windows and other key parameters, and then run a route optimization that gives me suggestions for resource needs and delivery times. I can just copy the result straight into the quote: ‘This store will receive an estimated delivery at 09:48 on Thursday.’ That would’ve taken ages to do manually,” says Pierre.

Thanks to pinDeliver, Widén’s has been able to reduce the time spent on manual planning, gain better control over each route, and simultaneously improve delivery accuracy. But it’s not just about technology – it’s also about the relationship.

”We see pinDeliver as a strategic partner to our operations. It’s not just an off-the-shelf system – it works within our production and supports us in our daily work. We haven’t found any other supplier that’s been this solution-oriented. The greatest joy is that we’ve finally found something that truly fits what we do – and is genuinely fit for purpose,” concludes Nils.
